LA RAZA UNIDA PARTY
R.U.P. - OAKLAND, ca 1971
La Raza Unida Party was established in the year of 1971. La Raza Unida Party set up chapters in which they had Partidos in San Francisco, Oakland, Union City, Newark, San Jose, Fresno, Sacramento, LA county, San Joaquin Valley and other areas of California. The mission of La Raza Unida Party had an overall mission of bringing Chicanos together to be represented. The preamble is a document in which the people of La Raza were asking for, which was a say in the political world. The RUP would provide the necessities that Chicanos needed. To name a few of the major factors were education, money in their communities, and acceptance. The document was successfully passed in mid 1971. Not only was this a great accomplishment for Chicanos, but all oppressed people. This was a step forward in creating a united society for all the Chicano people, especially in San Francisco and Oakland.
