HISTORY OF AZTECS (in north america)
Since the 15th century, when the Spanish first arrived in the North American hemisphere, Aztecs, primarily, were pushed out of their culture and identity. The Spanish took the land of what is now known as California, Utah, and Nevada. Parts of Colorado, New Mexico, and Wyoming belonged to the Aztecs. To many Chicanos and Mexicans today, it is believed that the land of the states mentioned above belong to Mexico. It has been a constant war of gentrification. Being pushed out of owned land of the Aztecs, after Spain conquered the Aztecs the land became known as Mexico. When Manifest Destiny happened, the United States created the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. This Treaty agreed that the United States would take the 525,000 sq miles of Mexican territory after the Mexican-American War, which was signed of February 2 1846. This forced the Mexicas to now be taboo in land that was once there's. This was the start of history of many Mexicas not being accepted into American society.
